Vanessa J. Lopez

Vanessa currently resides in Minneapolis, MN and has served as the head milliner, costume craftsperson, and fabric dyer at the Guthrie Theater since 2019. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Design and Technology with an emphasis in Costume Technology from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a native of El Paso, Texas and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. After graduation, she returned to UIW to serve as the costume shop manager until the fall of 2016. Other professional credits include Netflix Films, Ballet Idaho, Austin Shakespeare Festival, Six Flags Fiesta Texas entertainment department, The Classic Theatre of San Antonio, and wardrobe crew for I.A.T.S.E. local #76 in San Antonio, TX where she worked on several Broadway tours including Wicked, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, and The Book of Mormon. Vanessa is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and is the 2019 recipient of The Barbara Matera Award in Costume Making sponsored by Judy Adamson.
